The 1971 Chevy truck saw a few design changes. The grill was changed on the 71 Chevy truck to an “egg carton” style, the brakes were changed from drum to disk brakes that were more reliable and for the first time, factory installed AM/FM radios were installed. Did people really spend all of that time with nothing but their thoughts before the car radio was invented? I would have gone insane. No music, no sports, no biased political commentary? Any trip longer than 30 minutes must have been complete torture. Especially if kids were in the car. No volume knob to drown them out. I shudder at the thought.
Here we have a nicely restored 1971 Chevy truck for sale on Craigslist in Iowa. It’s a 4×4 3/4 ton pickup with a 454 big block engine, spray in bed liner, new interior, and 36″ super swamper tires. I’m color blind so I’m going to need someone to help me out on whether this truck is orange or red. Maybe I’m just color stupid? Anyway, the owner wants $10,500 for it. It’s a fantastic looking truck and looks like it would be a lot of fun out in a muddy field. However, gas just hit $3.39 a gallon in my precious state of Kansas which actually has lower gas prices than most states in the country, so I can’t help but wonder what the gas mileage on a truck like this is. My 09 Dodge Challenger averages about 20 miles per gallon and the price of a fill up is enough to make me wish I had bought a Prius instead. Sticky gas pedals be damned. I’m actually waiting for the first electric truck to be introduced. One of the biggest advantages of an electric car is that they achieve instant maximum torque. As you may know, torque is somewhat important to truck drivers. Sounds like a future match made in heaven.
Now that I’m done with my tangent, here is the interior to our 1971 Chevy pickup. As you can see it looks just as nice on the inside as it does on the outside. The owner didn’t list how many miles the engine had on it so at this point I’m thinking 10 grand is a fair price for this truck. Don’t forget that Craigslist is not just a great place to find trucks but also a great place to find 1971 Chevy truck parts as well. You are going to need them eventually.
