Today we celebrate 1979 Chevy trucks with three recent online listings. 79 was a very important year in the automotive world because the one year later the 80s would bring a decade of uninspired American designs and weak innovation that really spurred along the sales of foreign automobiles like Toyota and Honda. This is of course one man’s opinion but it’s very difficult to think of classic American cars from the 80s. Even the legendary mustang would become a boring afterthought. But that is enough of that. We have a custom painted, lifted 79 Chevy truck, a lifted Chevy 4×4 truck, and a 1979 K5 Chevy Blazer for your viewing pleasure.
Our first truck today this 79 Chevy 1/2 ton 4×4. The owner has jacked it up quite a bit and added a number of custom features like the grill, hood, and paint job. The paint job is green flames accompanied by a checkered flag. I’ve never been a big fan of flamer trucks. I’m not really sure why your truck would look cooler if it were on fire. I’m all about custom colors or some racing stripes, but flames and a checkered flag just don’t do it for me. So lets move on to the next truck.
Here we have a 1979 Chevy truck for sale on Craigslist. It’s a lifted 4×4 and they are asking about $4200 for it. You can’t see it in this picture but the tailgate is missing. No mention as to why in the post. I once had a friend that always left his tailgate down because he figured it reduced drag and increased gas mileage. Maybe that is what’s going on here. A noble attempt to increase MPG from 10 to 10.1. Oh, and the owner mentioned at the end of his post that money talks so bring cash and motivation to get a better deal.
Last we have a 1979 Chevy Blazer K5. It’s not in great condition. Much rusting and body damage to go along with this one which is why it was only listed for $800. I’m sure you could get it cheaper as it has been sitting for 1 year. That means it’s going to need even more work than it looks. And it looks like it needs a lot of work! New pumps are probably going to be mandatory. Vehicles like these are the gifts that keep on giving. You think, I’ve replaced every damn thing on this truck, nothing else could possibly break…..and then three things break all at once.
