If you’ve ever dreamed of opening your own restaurant you know that it’s extremely expensive and that the failure rate is incredibly high. That makes for a pretty risky venture. However, if you can except that you’ll never be Gordon Ramsey, food trucks can provide you a low cost and lower risk way to enter into the food business.
I recently stumbled across a number of food trucks for sale in my never ending search for jacked up trucks. I thought they were pretty cool and decide to post a few here today. When I was 16 I actually worked out of a Back Yard Burgers food truck at a local fair in Tulsa, OK. It was only for 2 days but I had a lot of fun.
First up is a large mobile food truck for sale on ebay in Littleton, CO. It’s a 2004 Chevy FT1801 which I never knew existed. There is only two days left on the listing and I doubt it will sell so it might get re-listed. The owner posted a buy it now price of $79,000. I have no idea what one of these things cost new.
The high price is apparently due to many custom features. It was built by a restaurant team in Las Vegas to be a gourmet kitchen on wheels. The walls are hand crafted, flame treated copper. The floors, ceiling, and cabinets are stainless steel. Three generators are included that reportedly cost $30,000 all on their own. I could go about the various other features on this truck but I must ask you this. No matter how fancy you make your food truck, will it ever make people forget that they are eating food out of truck?
Shopping for used food trucks for sale is not unlike shopping for anything else. Sometimes someone’s loss is your gain. And that’s the situation with this West Texas Grill food truck. A death in the family means that owner has to move and sell his “money maker.” There are nearly 4 days left in this auction and it’s seen some action with 18 bids but none of those bids has reached the reserve price of $10,100. The buy it now price is listed at $15,500. Maybe his loss has yet to become great enough to become someone else’s gain.
If you do decide to get into the mobile food business, finding food vending trucks for sale online is pretty easy. Imagine trying to do this 15 years ago when you would have to get lucky enough to stumble across one in the classifieds. How often do you suppose these things go on sale in your city?
