1953 Ford Trucks Restored

Restoring classic trucks has been an expensive hobby for a very long time. However, you don’t have to be rich to make this hobby your own. What is required is that you have some serious experience as a mechanic, because if you plan to restore a classic truck on your own, you will need to know how to do paint and body work, make engine, frame, suspension, and drive train repairs, as well as be able to do upholstery and interior work. There is a lot that goes on in the restoration of a classic truck, but you can contract some out to professionals.

Ol' Red - 1953 Ford Truck

The first truck I am featuring in this article is a 1953 Ford truck for sale in Holley, New York. It is equipped with a Ford Big Block 460 cubic inch engine with a Holley carburetor, a C6 three speed automatic transmission and Lokar shifter, as well as power steering and brakes.

The shark tooth grille on this truck is a very rare item. The body of the truck has been lowered and painted a beautiful fire engine red. A matching red, custom upholstered interior finishes the restoration of this classic pickup.

Low Riding 1953 Ford Truck

This second restoration is a custom built 1953 Ford truck that has been lowered nearly to the ground. The engine is a 351 cubic inch with an Edelbrock intake and carb, powdercoated intake and headers, as well as a full dual exhaust. Even the air cleaner is custom casted and flamed. The C6 automatic transmission is freshly rebuilt and a shift kit and cooler have been added. The suspension consists of a nine inch rear end geared to 3.73 riding on leaf springs, a Heidts crossmember with tubular upper and lower a-frames, dropped spindles, and front disc brakes. The interior has been done in gray tweed and includes a billet gauge panel with VDO gauges and a column mounted tachometer. This is just a short list of the customizations done to this classic Ford.

1953 Ford F100 - Canadian Classic

We can blame the folks of Ontario, Canada for this well restored 1953 Ford F100. This truck has the original Ford Flat Head V8 engine complete with three on the tree shifter. This truck went through a frame off restoration only five years ago, so it is ready for this summer’s classic car and truck shows as of right now. The perfect silver gray paint, new interior, and smoothie rims really bring this restoration together.
