Amazing Antique Fire Trucks for Sale

Every boy dreams at one time or another of becoming a fireman.  Somehow most of us end up as accountants or salesman instead.  It’s a sad reality of life however, the fantasy never has to die because everyday there are multiple fire trucks for sale across the internet.

It seems a bit strange to me that anyone that wants to  is allowed to buy one of these things but what else could a city do with an outdated truck other than sell it to the public?

I’m partial to the classics, so I’ve gathered three antique fire trucks for sale from California all of the way to Connecticut.

1954 Seagrave Fire Truck
1954 Seagrave Fire Truck

I’m starting with oldest first and this 1954 Seagrave 900A Fire truck for sale in Torrington, CT is just beautiful.  You aren’t going to find many old fire trucks for sale that have been this well taken care of.  It has a wonderful history too.

This 1954 fire engine was the first aerial ladder truck purchased by the city of Torrington.  It helped fight the infamous Gavlick fire of 1973 along with many other fires.  The truck was retired in 1986 and has been owned by the local union until now.  There have been many offers for the truck and it will most likely be sold by the time you read this.

1959 International Fire Truck
1959 International Fire Truck

The second of our classic used fire trucks for sale is this 1959 International.  It’s only five years younger than our previous truck but in terms of fire truck design it looks light years ahead.  It is currently located in Temecula, CA and was originally used by the West Yellowstone Fire Department.

According to the seller it is pretty good condition and still runs.  There is minor rusting but that is to be expected.  The mileage is surprising low at 34,000 but then again, how fire and often were fire trucks driven back then?  The last time I checked, there was 1 hour left on the ebay auction.  The current bid was $1200 but the reserve wasn’t met yet so there is a chance it might get re-listed.

1968 Ward Le France Fire Truck
1968 Ward Le France Fire Truck

The last fire truck of the day is this 1968 Ward Le France.  It’s amazing to think that this vehicle is over 40 years old as it’s appearance is nearly identical to what modern fire trucks look like.  I guess you stick with what works.

This truck is currently located in Decatur, AL and was originally purchased by the city of Athens.  It has 18,000 miles on it and is in excellent condition.  Most of the original equipment is still on this truck, so if you want to hose down the neighbors, this is my recommendation.
