Thanks to the internet and online marketplaces like ebay, finding used tow trucks for sale has become relatively simple. It seems like a lifetime but it really wasn’t that long ago when finding a niche used vehicle like a tow truck was much more difficult. There might be a couple of places in major cities that specialize in the sale of these vehicles but it might require some hunting through local junkyards to find the desired tow truck. And even then, the quality and function of the truck might not be what the buyer was looking for. Luckily all of that has changed. Searching for the exact year, brand, and functionality like rollback capability is a breeze. Now it just comes down to what you are willing to pay and what the seller is willing to accept. Let’s take a look at three current tow trucks for sale online.
I found a number of rollback tow trucks for sale but I chose this 2005 GMC 5500 Duramax because it demonstrates some the extra benefits of online shopping. Along with the basic listing information it includes a vehicle history report by Experian that confirms the number of accidents, owners, title, and odometer. Everything seems to check out well for this tow truck. One owner, no accidents, and clean title. Why would you take the time to verify this stuff on your own when it’s so simple online?
Another reason why I love searching online is you often stumble across something amusing or interesting. And I found this F350 tow truck for sale in southern Illinois amusing. The world of towing doesn’t have the best reputation. The stereotypical driver is a colorful and eccentric redneck looking to take you for all you’ve got. That’s why seeing the name Bubba on the side of this truck made me laugh. It really played right into the stereotype. Imagine you’ve got a flat and Bubba tire service pulls up. How disappointed would you be if the guy that got out of the truck wasn’t dressed in overalls? Maybe you would be relieved. Either way, for $5500 you can buy this truck and become Bubba. (Overalls not included)
Some people are looking for heavy duty tow trucks for sale. I really thought that towing and heavy duty went hand in hand but maybe not. However, I do think a dually F350 super duty with a 7.5 liter V8 would qualify. And that’s exactly what this truck is. It also has an amusing name. Joker’s towing. This baby is going to need some work though. It’s missing a clutch and has some rusting. It also has 200,000 miles on it. That means a good price for you, but lots of maintenance and possibly some mechanical issues that you don’t want to deal with. That’s one of the ironic things about used tow trucks. They often need tow trucks of their own.
